About Dr Anthony Kao

DDS, DClinDent (Perio), MRACDS

Dr. Anthony Kao is a Specialist Periodontist who speaks English and Mandarin.

Dr Kao was born in Taiwan, went to New Zealand at the age of 16 and attended high school in Auckland.  After obtaining his Bachelor of Physiotherapy at the University of Otago, New Zealand, Dr. Kao further studied dentistry in the Poznan University of Medical Sciences in Poland.  After graduation in 2011, Dr Kao returned home to New Zealand and worked in private practices in Auckland.  Dr Kao always had interests in the field of periodontics and thus purist post graduate study in the University of Otago, New Zealand.  He obtained his Doctorate of Clinical Dentistry in Periodontics in 2021 and has been working in Wellington since. 

As a periodontist, Dr. Kao is well equipped in diagnosing, preventing, and treating a wide range of periodontal conditions, from gingivitis to severe periodontitis. He believes in the importance of patient education and fosters open communication to empower individuals to take control of their oral health.  In addition, Dr. Kao has a deep understanding of dental implants and their potential complications, which positions him as an exceptional clinician for both implant placement and post-operative care.

Outside of his professional endeavors, Dr. Kao loves snowboarding, soccer and travelling.
