About Dr Adelyn Lau
Oral Surgeon

Dr Lau is a registered specialist Oral Surgeon in Australia and New Zealand. She was raised in Singapore so she is fluent in English and Mandarin. She graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the University of Otago in 2013 and was on the Dean’s List for clinical excellence in her final year. Upon graduation, she worked as a Dental and Maxillofacial House Officer at Dunedin Public Hospital. She went on to complete a full-time Post-Graduate Diploma in Clinical Dentistry Oral Surgery with Distinction, and then undertook a further three years of full-time specialist training, graduating with a Doctorate of Clinical Dentistry in Oral Surgery.
Dr Lau is committed to continued education and evidence-based practice. Her doctoral research involved conducting a double blind, randomised control clinical trial looking at ways to improve patient recovery and quality of life after wisdom teeth removal. She has presented her research at international conferences and was awarded a prize by the International Association of Dental Research (Australia-New Zealand division) in 2019. Dr Lau has also published articles in numerous reputable peer-reviewed journals.
Dr Lau ensures that every person is treated according to his or her individual needs with respect and compassion. She firmly believes in patient-centric care and always strives for excellence in the delivery of safe, quality healthcare. Where required, she communicates and collaborates with general dentists, dental specialists, medical doctors and anaesthetists to deliver a multi-disciplinary approach to patient care.
Dr Lau has held clinical and teaching roles at the University of Otago, Faculty of Dentistry in New Zealand where she was involved in undergraduate training in exodontia and minor oral surgery clinics. She currently holds a Staff Specialist appointment with NSW Health, operating across public hospitals in the Sydney Local Health District.
